As Stalker’s agent was returning to the Hotel on the Thursday evening of the Mushroom Days in Holland, he was surprised to see a face from the past loom up out of the night.
Checking in at midnight to the hotel was none other than Sylvan’s Vice President in Philadelphia Jimmy Miller, hotfooting it from the airport, just arrived in from a transatlantic long haul flight.
It seemed a bit late to be checking in. As the Sylvan man recounted, he was happy to be arriving at all, never mind being over 12 hours late. A contingent of mushroom folk from the USA were travelling over to the Mushroom Days Conference when they got a bit more than they bargained for.
The American Airlines Flight 64 was en route from New York to Zurich, Switzerland, when "some kind of fire" broke out, forcing the landing in Nova Scotia, a representative of the airline said.the plane suddenly experienced turbulence and loss of cabin pressure. The passengers got a mighty scare and were told that if the plane hadn’t been able to make the emergency landing that it would have had disastrous consequences.
Jimmy and the other mushroom people fro Kennet Square were all mighty relieved to be getting into their hotels even though they were scheduled to check in at 8 a.m., not midnight. Of course there was a handling trying to catch connecting flights to Amsterdam’s Schipol airport, but all the travellers were relieved to finally arrive, rather than annoyed at any delay.
Even though they were all shook up, their final destination was happily achieved.
