The working group set up by Minister Bríd Rodgers to consider the need for a new Food Body has many well known names in it. The mushroom industry's own Kieran Hughes, of Hughes Mushrooms, is one of the twelve experts who will be mulling over the pros and cons of giving birth to the new entity. As the Minister put it: "The recommendation in the Vision Report for a Food Body, has attracted a lot of attention and is obviously one to which I need to give the most careful consideration. I have, therefore, decided to accept the recommendation in the Report that I should set up a Working Group to consider the structure, responsibilities and functions of a Food Body. I have, however, widened the remit to include the question of the need for such a Body. "Decisions taken over the next few months on the recommendations in the Vision Report could well affect the future of the agri-food industry for some considerable time. I am confident that the Working Group I have appointed will provide me with the necessary information and advice to make the correct decisions on the proposal for a Food Body."
