Interesting numbers came out in early April to show the number of car sales in the UK in March.
March is of course the time when sales are boosted normally by the fact that new registrations come out.
The fall of 30.5 % on the same month last year, from approximately 450, 000 to 313,000, is dramatic to say the least. We all knew that the car industry was in dire straits globally, these figures indicate a serious health problem for the industry in the UK.
The knock-on effect of declining car sales will be a serious blow to the economy too.
2009 may yet turn out to be the annus horribilis that many have forecast.
