Word is that the latest Monaghan Mushroom operation at Carbury in Co.Kildare is about to come on stream with it’s first load of phase 3 compost.
The end of September, or early autumn, is the most likely time for the first 300 tonnes or so of the new phase compost to begin emerging from the new development.
At full production the plant would hope to be producing 2000 tonnes a week. There are developments elsewhere in the compost world too - watch this space for more on the next generation of compost development on the island of Ireland.
Once again it seems that the autumn will bring forth news of mushroom sector innovation, development and growth.
It sounds quite at odds with the prevailing climate in the world of business and finance.
Perhaps the mushroom industry cycles are happily out of phase with the wider economy.
