It's been a funny old month news wise and weather wise.
Meteorological results for June came in showing it was the wetter than average - peculiar weather after the superb and record breaking May that Ireland had.
Oddities in the news included, in the same week, the story about the man giving birth to a baby in the USA, and of course more bizarrely, the massive gold strike outside Clontibret in Co Monaghan.
Now we know why the North's new First Minister was making an incursion into that tiny hamlet so many years ago - he could sniff the gold in them thar drumlins.
Monaghan may yet become more synonymous with the precious metal, than with the mushrooms, in years to come.
