Stalker, wonderingly, perused the Top 1,000 Companies supplement provided by The Irish Times last month.
Funny that there's always the same companies mentioned - moving up or down a few places in the "rankings". The wonder was, why bother looking at these stats? Do they really provide much information or serve a business purpose? Maybe if one has money to invest, one supposes.
Anyway - having looked at the usual suspects in the mushroom sector, it can be reported that Monaghan Middlebrook Mushrooms are now ranked at 335, down 23 places from their previous ranking at 312, with a turnover of euro128.94million.
Donegal Creameries come in at ranking 343, that’s from a previous rank of 321, with a turnover of Euro125 million.
Walsh Mushrooms make the rankings list at position 581, dropping from a previous rank of 519, with a turnover listed at Euro65 million.
If there were any other mushroom related companies in the top 1,000 companies, Stalker missed them.
One other notable position - someone has to get it every time the 1,000 list is produced - is of course the dreaded 666 ranking.
Coming in at that ranking this year was TV3 - that raised a smirk at least with Stalker.
