Stalker was amazed to see the monetary valuation to the Irish economy placed on the humble earthworm.
The value was given as Euro700 million worth to the economy as a biodiversity resource.
In fact the true worth is incalculable - without the earthworm doing it’s bit it is unlikely that Ireland would be a viable entity at all.
It's amazing what we take for granted and what economists think they can put a money value on. Some things are just simply beyond the ken of economics.
