Stalker was well impressed by the glossy adverts placed throughout the UK national print media - in newpaper mags and women's glossies, wherever you looked - Save Our Bacon, before it's too late.
It was a very well judged piece of advertising for the pig farming industry. AS the copy ran: " In today's difficult economic climate, they could lose as much as £26 on every pig reared and sold in the UK. Many face financial ruin and are sadly giving up on all pigs altogether." Sounds vaguely familiar does it not.
Stalker doesn't remember any such colourful adverts bemoaning the fate of the mushroom growers in the UK or Ireland. More’s the pity.
The pig farming campaign has certainly galvanised many consumers to seek out the Pigmeat Quality Standard Mark in order to support their pig farmers.
Somehow though, one gets the feeling when such campaigns are run that they come too late for many in the industry's they are trying to save from implosion.
