Further to the Horticultural grant aid that was disbursed last month in the South, there was also a new scheme aimed at projects that demonstrated added value, improved efficiencies and/or improved labour efficiency.
Grant aid was available up to 40% of total costs and in general, investments had to exceed Euro80,000.
The scheme was probably suitable for some mushroom industry investments.
The closing date for applications was 29th February. Doubtless those who could avail of such funding made it their business to get their applications in before the deadline.
Once again it seems that funding in the South for development and investment on farms outstrips the Northern equivalents.
