Stalker came across this illuminating quote from Mark Wach, vice president and research-and-development director of Sylvan Inc., of Kittanning, during the month.
"There are probably 50 mushroom researchers in the Western countries. There's probably 20,000 (in China)."
It most likely is an underestimate of the number of occidental researchers in the mushroom field - but if the oriental number is correct, it sure is an indication of the scale of Chinese science (and population of course).
One can safely say that there's a lot of interest in mushrooms out there in the East.
