With all the doom and gloom prognostications by market experts, super economists and soothsayers, Stalker chortled at one correspondent to the media who questioned all the economists and their forecasting in 2007.
They were all very wide of the mark on how 2007 would turn out, and have been reticent in the face of the market volatility of late to stick their necks out.
The correspondent was reminded of an old adage: an economist is an expert who will know tomorrow why the things he predicted yesterday didn't happen today!
Or as the other economist joke goes: "That's all very well in practice, but does it work in theory?"
