Stalker was amused and alarmed reading the recent spake by Lord Oxburgh, the former chairman of Shell, on the environmental melt-down that we may face.
He warned that production and use of fossil fuels is causing serious environmental damage during a seminar on biofuels. He said that carbon dioxide emissions had to be cut.
"It is now dawning on us that we have been contentedly sawing off the branch of life on which our civilisation is sitting," he said.
