Stalker noted the push to expand trade between the Netherlands and Northern Ireland which got under way in the first week of January, when the Dutch Foreign Trade minister and leading Dutch industrialists arrived over in the North.
Strong economic development in the North is already attracting increasing investment interest from the Netherlands.
In the mushroom industry there has always been a lot of activity between the two European regions. The Irish mushroom sector has always looked toward Dutch practices and technology, but there has been two-way traffic, as Irish solutions to mushroom industry problems has often displayed an ingenuity not found on the continent.
All in all, though, it would seem that the North would be the main beneficiary from increased contact with Dutch businesses and investment drives.
