The start of this year has seen some whopping winds battering these islands of ours.
In Ireland hurricane force winds gusted up to 174 kilometres an hour on the 9th of January.
Malin Head in Co.Donegal was the location where the speeds were recorded, and were the third highest in the area since records began.
Lorries were blown over, mobile homes lifted and dropped hundreds of yards away, and many building roofs were torn clean off. Electricity was cut off to 20,000 homes in affected areas. Connacht, Carlow, Kilkenny and Tipperary were also badly hit.
High winds seem to be a feature now at the turn of the year - let's hope the climate doesn't decide to get even freakier with the local weather.
