If you're driving in the direction north or south to via Monaghan one tends to go through the village of Emyvale - unless taking the scenic route.
One cannot help but notice the apparent emergence of a potential mushroom empire. As previously noted, the expansion at the Mc Gee yard is very visible and extensive. Also in the vicinity one can't help but notice the large packhouse dominating the landscape that belongs to grower Kieran Walsh.
The two mushroom operations are geographically linked obviously and one suspects that the two growers may be building a little empire to challenge the hegemony of the bigger outfits.
It's great to see the emergence of enterprising smaller concerns, nimbler in operation and quicker maybe to respond to changing conditions than their bigger rivals.
Here's hoping all goes well for the Emyvale entrepreneurs.
