The Fletcher and Gaze tome looks very stylish; it feels lovely too, for you hardback fetishists out there. It certainly seems to be the business as far as the technical identification of mushroom diseases and pests go.
With the RRP of GBP 45 for the hardback, the price may make folk hesitate in the buying. Remember that the 10% discount offer on the volume, available quoting the 001 code, runs until the start of January 2008.
The Mushroom People hopes to carry a full review of the book by an industry technical expert, in order to give a full flavour of the handbook and also to deliver an opinion on the indispensability, or not, of the new text.
Being totally shallow and magpieish, Stalker is won over by the waxy feel of the hardback cover and the glossy photos adorning the 192 pages.
Surely a filler for every serious mushroom grower and mycologist's stocking this Christmas.
