The latest "hit" Irish movie is called "Shroom" no less. Certainly it ain't about the commercial mushroom industry in Ireland, nor about any of the shenanigans attendant to the industry.
Although when one hears that it is a horror flick it wouldn't surprise one. The movie hasn't been getting rave reviews - as one reviewer puts it : "Conceived as a relentless Irish horror, the film ends up a mid-Atlantic cadaver." Ouch!
Stalker cannot really recall any other Irish horror movie from any recent decade. So Shroom seems to be a bit of a first. Anything that keeps the fabulous fungi in the minds of the many is all right by The Mushroom People.
It has been praised for some of its gloriously filmed scenes - the movie was shot in several different counties, including Monaghan, Armagh and Derry. There's some notable mushroom connections there then.
Worth a gander? Stalker will let you know once the film has been viewed.
