Stalker was amused to read the headline in the national press last month "Dig In Monaghan after worker finds tunnel".
Could this be some silly season mushroom industry story?
Unfortunately not – seems as though an archaeological dig was ordered in Monaghan town after a road worker found a tunnel at a location known locally as "hospital hill".
Monaghan County Museum were involved with the discovery process. The find was just yards from the front door of the county museum.
Stalkercan imagine in a far distant future, archaeologists uncovering the history of the mushroom industry in the town and county.
