There's to be a new top man at Teagasc in the near future. The new director will be Jim Flanagan, currently the chief technical inspector in the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural development.
He will succeed Dr Liam Downey in April, who has held the position at the agriculture and food development authority since 1994. Dr Downey will continue as Adjunct Professor of Agriculture at University College, Dublin.
