With the Foot and Mouth scare emanating out of the green fields near Guildford in England, this past month has been a nervy one for farmers and all countryside people.
Thankfully the worst of the scare seems to be over at this point.
The "Fortress Ireland" policy adopted North and South has not been breached this time – which is lucky for us all.
The fragility and interconnectivity of the whole rural economy in Ireland, North and South, and in Britain was starkly illustrated once again with the spectre of disease.
