Stalker wonders at the claims, made recently, for the oldest known mushroom, entombed in a 100-million-year-old piece of amber from Burma.
It is interesting indeed that the mushroom had been infected by an ancient parasite, which a second parasite was feeding on. No doubt the infestation sounds familiar to many a modern mushroom farmer.
However, last month it was reported that the mystery organism Prototaxites was a prehistoric humongous fungus, in the region of 350 million years old.
Whom to believe in this oldest known mushroom quest?
