Stalker is hearing that there are more and more growers deciding to hang up there boots and walk away from the industry.
Reasons cited tend to be due to the on-going slashing of prices that they're getting - even within some producer organisations.
Worryingly, Stalker has heard that one of the best farms in the country in Co. Tipperary is shutting and the grower is simply walking away from the mushroom industry.
The farm in the South, had been viewed as a success story by those in-the-know, hence it is all the more stunning to see it shutting down.
This is not a stand-alone case in Tipperary as apparently at least three of the county's mushroom farmers have decided to quit in the past few months.
