Green labelling of food to show the impact of its production on the environment could become the next big thing and lead to major changes in consumption, retailers have said.
"It is a trend that might be bigger than all the rest," a spokeswoman from Tesco said.
She added that feedback from consumers suggested they wanted retailers to help them behave in a more sustainable way and that "substantial change in customer attitudes" was becoming apparent.
Stalker is always suspicious of claims made by the big retailers - could this feedback just be a way to "prepare" suppliers for more changes - do it our way or else!
Surely it is the big retailers who have foisted, for example, the excessive packaging on everyone, consumers and suppliers alike, in the hunt for bigger profits.
Maybe Stalker is being too sceptical.
However, not trusting those that wield the power is a healthy stance, if one doesn't want to be moulded and made compliant.
