John Dillon has succeeded in his bid to become president of the IFA. The first deputy president ever to take the top job, he has managed to fend off some very strong bids from the rival contenders. In the end he was elected by a 45 vote margin.
Described in the media as having a " voice like gravel being tipped from a lorry", the president elect is sure to have many battles to fight over the coming four year term. The Limerick man has pledged to represent all IFA members, big or small during his term of office. We can only wish him all the best in the new post and good luck dealing with the politicos in future struggles.
