Stalker has mentioned Middletown the movie before, but it is now out on DVD.
It has been getting goodish reviews, a four star rating in The Irish Times.
The blurb goes: a dark and brooding drama, set in late 1950’s Northern Ireland; a fundamentalist clergyman spouting scary fire and brimstone; the film implicitly anticipates the intolerance that will boil over in theis part of Ireland in years to come.
Hmmm, so it's not about mushroom or compost production then!
May still be worth a gander, but not having seen it, Stalker will not stick the neck out to give it a thumbs-up.
Sounds slightly grim, but you never know. As long as it's not a load of old compost.
Stalker wonders what the actual denizens of Middletown think of it, even though the filmic town is meant to be fictional.
