ENGLISH MGA DEMISE
A sign of the times perhaps, a portent of the future for the mushroom industry in these islands some might say. Sadly the Mushroom Growers Association in England is set to wind up activities on the 31st of December this year. This follows continuing financial losses for the association and a dwindling membership. The MGA was set up back in 1945 and reached a maximum membership of 900 in the early nineties. It is sad to see the end of this august association. There are some hopes that a few growers may start up another growers association, but with the way things are in the industry this is deemed unlikely.
