Dr Helen Grogan formerly of Warwick HRI, has taken up a position with Teagasc at the Kinsealy Research Centre. Helen is well known in the industry and will no doubt be sorely missed at HRI.
Dr Grogan took up her position as Mushroom Research Officer / Plant Pathologist on October 3rd. She will be working closely with the Teagasc Mushroom Advisors and also the advisors in other horticultural sectors.
Dr Grogan has told The Mushroom People how she plans to proceed in her new post: “In the mushroom area I plan to conduct research on diseases and their control, in particular on Verticillium and on the Brown mushroom symptom. Not much to report at the moment as I am in the process of setting up a lab and office here at Kinsealy. I am looking forward to meeting and working with the growers in Ireland, as well as with DARD in the north, as the industry here is quite different to that in Britain.”
Stalker wishes Helen every success in her endeavours and is certain that she will be a super-valuable asset to the mushroom industry in Ireland in the years ahead.
