With the introduction of the euro now upon us, it'll not be long before the reality of the uber currency will take hold in the North. Already commentators in GB are prognosticating a dual currency role for the North, as a possible testbed for UK entry into the eurozone proper. On the ground, the actuality of a powerful and pan-European accepted monetary unit will force Northern businesses to operate equally well with the new money as with Sterling. The demise of Sterling is almost assured – "eurocreep" will set in from Jan.1st and from then on the pound sterling will be on the run.
