The composting companies are reaching the end of their wheaten straw supplies by all accounts.
The harvest is due during mid August apparently. Usually this time of year theirs is wondering at whether there'll be a scarcity or a glut of the stuff.
If the weather holds (like it hasn't) there should well be a good harvest, although more and more farmers are encouraged not to produce the stuff what with the CAP policy, set aside is the order of the day.
Set aside doesn't sit well with the farming ethos.
However one composter has been heard saying there might be plenty of straw – that's to do with industry contraction rather than the straw harvest.
