One grower had a rather unhappy Easter this year due to the Polish influence in the mushroom market.
Our grower has been supplying a top UK multiple for many years and has been in the growing game for 20 years.
Even though times have been tough of late, the grower was achieving good results and was hopeful that his plentiful supply of button, cups, opens and flats which were ready for delivery would help the business.
However just as he was ready to proceed with delivery the order was lost – usurped by a Polish supplier he was told.
There's no making up the shortfall when the orders are whipped out from underneath you.
