The award winning Yorkshire-based mushroom producer Greyfriars UK has taken on a new general manager for its mushroom farming operations.
The company was in the headlines last month after their top man John Smith had a go at Tesco. He accused Britain's biggest retailer before the Office of Fair Trading of violating a code of conduct aimed at ensuring that supermarkets treat their suppliers fairly. Smith accused Tesco of imposing unacceptable costs on suppliers to sell their goods. Tesco denied it had violated the code.
Hopefully the new GM will have a quieter intro to managing the mushroom business at Greyfriars. Stalker presumes that we haven't heard the last from Mr Smith on the trouble with Tesco.
