The problem of spent mushroom compost (SMC) is still exercising many minds out there. Although the "dodgy" slick in Broadhaven Bay turned out to be a false alarm, the fact remains that what to do with the stuff is a major headache. The new biomass power plant method is not being happily embraced by the public situated near the plants. The way of the worm may yet prove to be the safest, least toxic and perhaps even profitable way to go. The prospect of effective SMC management, with a lucrative spin off product would seem to be in the world of fantasy – but considering recent communications from a vermi-composting expert, Stalker suspects a breakthrough could be imminent.
