Most growers seem to have picked up on the two-pick strategies being suggested by the industry's technical advisors over these past few years.
Any growers that have not yet converted their pickers to this type of regime are missing out, as are the pickers.
Picking through in the morning, followed by a 2nd pick in the afternoon has been shown to maximise quality and yield for the grower, and also to benefit the pickers by generating better weights picked.
Both grower and picker benefit, and even marketers benefit from better produce generating better prices.
Surely this is something that should be operational on every mushroom unit in the country?
