McGeary's Hugh Quinn managed to get away early (late at night, not 4 a.m.) from the conference, not being bothered about the free alcohol on offer. He also kindly took point to help a friend navigate safely back to the North, up that exceedingly winding road from Monaghan. However, he only got to just outside Aughnacloy when his mobile went. It was the deadly duo of Colm McGeary and Sean McNally, telling Hugh that they needed him to come back in order to get home themselves. Hugh proceeded to turn back – he had to leave his friend parked at Moybridge. He had just reached the outskirts of Monaghan town again when pranksters Colm and Sean rang him back to say they were only coddin'. Hapless Hugh did a U and headed back once more for home. When he got to Moybridge again his pal was still sitting, waiting for him to take up point once more, for a safe journey home to Ballygawley. What a night!
