In February 2014, AFBI, Loughgall and Monaghan Mushrooms hosted the 6th Technical meeting of the MushTV consortium in the Armagh City Hotel. After intense discussion of the latest research findings and key results for each of the eight work packages the group toured the extensive Monaghan Mushroom facilities at Tyholland.
The 6th Consortium meeting of MushTV was held on the 10th – 12th June in Poland. The visit superbly hosted by Dr Krystian Szudyga President of Stowarzyszenie Brany Grzybów Uprawnych (SBGU) the Polish Mushroom Growers Association also included several technical tours to the major mushroom growing and compost facilities around Siedlce in Eastern Poland. Farms visited included the Jachimowicz mushroom company (Fig 2); the largest farm in Poland, a Phase 4 production facility owned by the Gluchowski family and the Szewczuk Phase 3 shelf farm. Finally, on the Thursday morning the group travelled to the Lublin province to tour the impressive facilities at Kania Compost.

On Monday 23rd June, AFBI Loughgall hosted a visit from Professor Peter Gregory Chief Executive, East Malling Research (EMR) and Professor of Global Food Security, University of Reading. The visit, part of a one day whistle-stop tour of AFBI at the invitation of CEO Professor Seamus Kennedy was to discuss horticulture and crop production research programmes and explore current and future collaborations between the two organisations.
