The control of temperature during steam sterilisation has always been an expensive option. Most computer systems have programmes, but suitable valves cost up to €500 each. To prevent accidently steaming the wrong house it is necessary to also have manual valves. We designed the multi-speed pellet steam boiler for other reasons but an added advantage is you get the option of very low cost temperature control. When the desired room temperature is reached your computer sends a signal to the PLC on the boiler. The boiler switches to low speed. When the temperature falls the signal is removed and the boiler runs normally until the desired temperature is reached. This sequence continues and temperature is maintained in the room. A timer in your computer if available can be used to send another signal to the PLC to stop the boiler. If you have remote access to your control system you can turn off the boiler. Imagine lying on a beach in Florida and turning off your boiler? Perhaps not. A 2 or 3 core cable linked between your control computers and the boiler is all that is necessary. Depending on the location of your controllers and steam boiler it may be possible to use a remote control thus eliminating any cables.
