Progress Products, as a company some years ago, recognised and identified, the very special needs peculiar to the Mushroom Grower large or small, for cost-effective hygiene products which would provide reliable, consistent, and proven disinfection in the fight against the entire broad spectrum of diseases that are prevalent in mushroom cultivation.
After totally independent testwork undertaken by A.D.A.S. in the early nineties using a very specific formulation manufactured for Progress Products by Coventry Chemicals Ltd, "DISOLITE" was introduced into the UK mushroom industry.
We also recognised that to make our portfolio of specific mushroom disinfectants more comprehensive, a completely different, yet very effective alternative formulation would make good commercial sense, both to the benefit of the grower and ourselves as a major supplier to the industry.
Hence the alternative disinfectant called "OMNICIDE-M" was introduced, but only after stringent and independent tests were completed by the late Dr Fred Hayes and also Dr John Fletcher, (who many claim to be amongst the most foremost authorities on Mushroom Disease Control).
Like all industries, and Mushroom Growing is no exception, things do change - and suppliers have to move with these changes, and in our case we have to keep in line with all new requirements and legislations as they arise.
We work closely with the Department of Agriculture Fisheries & Food, we ensure ALL their edits are adhered to, we also ensure that all new products, and, labelling conform exactly to current legislation, and clearly identify the required PCS/Biocides Register number.
