NEW CHILDREN'S BOOK LAUNCHES SERIES OF HIGH-SPIRITED ADVENTURES
"BADD: book 1" by David A. Seaby is the first volume in a new series of children's books that follow the many adventures of Barry V. Badd. Barry is often naughty, but firmly believes he is fated by bad luck. In each of his adventures he learns a lesson in life, and eventually becomes a hero.
Seaby draws inspiration from his own adventurous, unusual and happy childhood to write the humorous adventures about Barry, his pets, his family and friends. In each of the 14 chapters in book 1, Barry's escapades reveal an important issue, be it homelessness, bad behavior, crime and punishment, training animals or over-ambitious projects.
This is the first-to-be published book in a series of 12 already written. "BADD: book 1" introduces some of the major characters in Barry's life, and tracks his erratic progress from menace to hero. The book also includes an appendix for teachers or parents filled with probing questions and potential projects.
Seaby says, "Barry is a complex, real-life character that kids can relate to. Sometimes he makes a good decision, more often a bad one. But there is always a lesson to be learned from the trouble he causes."
Seaby first posted a draft of BADD on the website for authors called Authonomy (www.authonomy.com). There, it received a great number of positive comments and a high reader backing. This resulted in an Authonomy Gold Medal rating and lead Seaby to seek publication. "BADD: book 1" is available for sale online at Amazon.com, eBook format and other channels.
About the Author As a child, David A. Seaby lived in a Norman castle where his father was a museum curator. It was cold and spooky but offered many adventures for a young boy and inspired some of Seaby's stories. He received two degrees from Queens University in Belfast and later worked as a researcher, studying tree diseases and mushroom growing. Seaby is an inventor, still lives in Northern Ireland, has three children and has written a total of 12 books about his amazing anti-hero, Barry V. Badd.

10/11/2011 8:52:37 PM Someone pointed your article out to me. I was very surprised because I had been contemplating sending something to the Mushroompeople in the hope someone would remember me. The days I contibuted were very happy ones.
My advice to someone thinking of writing a book is only do it for the fun of it because selling is much harder than I could have imagined.
Having said that, if you want a very funny book, beautifully produced, to read to or be read by a 7-10 yr old you could do a lot worse than buy BADD. I believe it is also educational. And it is only £4 from me, plus £1.50 pp = £5.50
