On June 24th at Palazzo della Gran Guardia in Verona the Italian Mushroom Growers Association held an extraordinary event in order to celebrate the 100 years of the Italian mushroom industry.
The event also commemorated all those members who made it possible to achive this prestigious target i.e. the Italian growers.
Among the founders of the Italian mushroom industry to receive an award was Angelo Sartor founder of Funghi del Montello (one of the first and largest Italian mushroom farms) and father of Valentino Sartor founder and owner of Italspawn.
The Associazione Italiana Fungicoltori also organised a motorcycle tour to celebrate its 100th anniversary in June . It was the second time there was a mushroom motor bike ride in Italy.
The ride arrived in Verona on Thursday the 23rd of June, and the celebration of the centennial of the A.I.F. took place on Friday the 24th. The ride started off in Montebelluna on Saturday the 18th of June and lead the participants through the beautiful Italian countryside, including Parma and Bagno di Romagna, and crossed the Dolomites, Tuscany and Cinque Terrre. The tour constituted 6 stages with a total of 1970 km traversed. The Italians sure know how to celebrate their mushroom industry.
