A Monaghan Mushrooms operation in Yorkshire is currently undergoing a large expansion which is hoped will result in the creation of 300 jobs in the area.
The new enhancements and development at the former quarry off Gravehill Lane, Whitley, owned by Monaghan Mushrooms will house 18 growing rooms, connected by a central arcade, purpose-built packing house, staff facilities, a plant room and an office.
District councillor Gillian Ivey said the project was a “fantastic opportunity from a responsible employer” and the company had agreed to a litter pick on the surrounding area.
New entrances to the site and a passing place will be included in the development to ease traffic.
