End of 2nd day''''''''s pick of the 1st flush, with 2000lbs off.
Dettie and John McBride, Swans Cross, Monaghan, have been growing mushrooms for 4 years on a five house operation.
They began growing on bags but last year they changed to growing on blocks on the floor, with single staging along the walls.
Sylvans 737 is cropping exceptionally well for the McBrides, giving them outstanding yields of good quality mushrooms. The mushrooms are picked as closed cups in 6lb trays and a small amount of baby buttons.
Since moving to Sylvan 737, Dettie & John have found themselves picking a larger mushroom that is grading well in the packhouse.
The last 5 crops have averaged over 600lbs/ton in 3 flushes.
