MUSHROOMSTUFF - WEEKEND IN SLOVAKIA HUNTING MORELS
Hi All, We are currently finalizing the agenda for a trip to Brezovica in Slovakia for a Morel Festival on the May bank holiday weekend. We are coordinating this trip with a group of Polish and Hungarian mushroom enthusiasts. The area that we are going to is ideal for morels at that time of year. The village that we will be staying in is a ski resort in the winter and has several good restaurants and bars. We are booking out a small hotel in a mountain village with a very good restaurant, a swimming pool and two bowling lanes. The Hotel also rents bicycles. The plan is to fly into Krakow on Saturday 3rd May. We will have our own coach to drive us the 120kms to the Hotel. As always the emphasis will be on good food and drink, good company, plenty of fun and of course mushroom hunting walks. The area that we will be staying in is also famous for its natural hot springs and we are planning on a visit to the best local Spa for a few hours R&R. At this stage we are looking at the following Agenda: (order subject to change). Sat 3rd May Arrive from the Airport(Aer Lingus flight arrives at 11.25) Check in to Hotel Lunch at Hotel Relax in afternoon 5.00pm go to Brezovica Hotel to meet the Polish mushroom group and to eat morels. 9.00pm return from Brezovica Sun 4th May After Breakfast go for walk in mountains to pick mushrooms 2.00pm Lunch at a mountain restaurant 5.00pm Arrive back at Hotel 8.00pm Gourmet Dinner at Hotel Mon 5th May After breakfast – go to Museum village and/or Castle 2.00pm Lunch After Lunch – go to Spa 5.00pm approx arrive back at hotel 8.00pm Gourmet dinner at a local restaurant. Tuesday 6th May Breakfast Bus to Krakow – flight departs at 12.20 This is a suggested agenda based on local information as to what there is to do and see of interest, you may of course choose to opt out of some of these activities. Morels are considered to be a delicacy and are typically elusive and expensive. They do grow in Ireland but are rare and hard to find. Unusually they grow in spring. For links to more information on Morels click here I have not yet finalized a price but it is likely to be about €400pp to include B&B, Coach-hire and some meals. You will have to arrange your own flights to Krakow through the Aer Lingus website flight EI368. The cost for the flights is currently about €200 return (a bit expensive as it is the bank holiday weekend). At this point I am looking for an expression of interest from those of you who intend to attend. Places will be limited as the Hotel has only got 26 rooms. All rooms are en-suite. We normally fill these trips from our email list. Please let me know by return email if you are interested in coming with us. 8/18/2013 6:40:22 PM Hello,
I'm headed to Poland with my mother in a few weeks and we were hoping to do some mushroom hunting with an experienced, English-speaking guide outside of Krakow (our best availability is on September 11). Do you know anyone who could provide that service? We won't have a car, but we understand it's the season and would hate to miss this opportunity. If you have suggestions, please send them to me at christyprahl@gmail.com. Thank you!

Mushroom Picking Tours
Learn how to find wild mushrooms on a one-to-one basis with our English-speaking Polish forest mushroom experts here in the Lubusz Lake District of the beautiful west of Poland.
Searching for and picking wild mushrooms is great fun. We offer the adventurous the chance to join our expert mushroom hunters on a private wild mushroom hunt in the depths of a Polish forest! Learn first hand about Central European wild mushrooms by personally collecting with us.
We can take you mushroom hunting in our local forests for half and day long tours and week long courses involving picking, drying, and cooking freshly-picked wild mushrooms. Each of our wild mushroom picking tours are individually tailored to the tastes and requirements of each client and include only those individuals, couples, friends, and family groups who have booked together. Typically our mushroom hunts focus on finding and picking Borowik (Cep / Porcini / Boletus Edulis / Steinpilz / Penny Bun / King Bolete) and Pieprzniki (Kurki / Chanterelle) mushrooms, which grow in surprisingly large numbers in the forests of this part of Poland.
We have limited accommodation (rooms and tent camping) available in our farmhouse; and if this is unavailable or isn't what you are looking for, we are happy to suggest and book comfortable accommodation, to suit every pocket, at bed and breakfasts, guesthouses, rustic cabins or hotels, close to our home base. We are located in an isolated location between the town of Sulęcin and Międzyrzecz in the province of Lubuskie in picturesque far west of Poland.
Contact us for further mushrooming tour details or to book a place on one of our individual mushroom-picking tours, which take place between August and late October each year.
Nearest airports: Berlin, Germany and/or Szczecin or Poznan, Poland.
